SPEAKER_06

Welcome to episode 280 of the Faces of the Future Podcast. It's your boy Mills. I got Rocket in the building with me today. How you doing today? I'm feeling great. My boy got great energy, huh? Great energy. Told you the sun out. Sun out. You know what I'm saying? Toes out, my feet out. You know what I'm saying? No socks on. I'm here. I'm in here with no socks on in the compound. Just walking around barefoot. Yeah, got the got the got the the crusties out, huh? Yeah, you ain't a many petty. I mean, I definitely I mean it's it's it's it's the sun just came out. I'm saying I'm gonna go, I'm gonna get one. Yeah, you're gonna get one. I'm gonna get one. I'm gonna get them right. You know what I'm saying? I had to let the dogs loose a little bit. Yeah, I feel it. Because it was hot out today. But like 20 degrees. Yeah, all week. It probably from between 60 to 80. It was it was high 80s. Right. City was probably about 88, 89. Hell yeah, yeah. I was walking around sweating. It was it was it was one of them type of things. Yeah, I think this summer is gonna be hotter. Why? It just remembered. There's gonna be a lot of bodies. Remember, remember that that too, that for sure. Also, like, I mean, I said it was gonna be a cold winter, it was a super cold winter this winter. So I just think I don't know what it is about that. I just feel the energy where it's gonna be a super hot summer, and like like we said before, like hot in the terms of like everybody gonna be in and out the city, but just hot weather, bro. It's gonna be kind of crazy. Well, I feel like what's going on globally right now is not as big anymore. What do you mean? Like I feel it's still getting talked about for sure, but like, you know, at one point in time it's like I feel like I feel like it was main it's still mainstream media, but like I feel like that that spike kinda is I feel like that's natural though. Like I feel like that's natural though when it comes to like news and stuff like that. Yeah? I think I think for sure it it the last I guess this last week hasn't been talked about too much like not too many, like I mean there's things that have been happening, but um I think it's also just like the era where news comes and goes. You know what I'm saying? Where it's like until there's like something like super, super, super drastic, it's gonna be like headlines, it probably won't be like talked about like front, like the first story of the day, that type of thing. As opposed to when when the things like when it came to like global or whatever, uh like when it initially happens, like it was headline front page, first first thing everyone's talking about. But I mean, I don't know, I think it's just a state that we're in. Like news last in the in the in the news cycle in terms of being the main category for not as long as it used to be. I mean, would you agree?

SPEAKER_08

Say it again?

SPEAKER_06

Like news, like say like it's a breaking news story, right? Yeah. That say it goes on for it's like that week it'll be front page for like a few days and then it's gone. Yeah. You feel me? It's not like back back in the day or like before when we used to watch like normal cable where it's like they'll talk about stuff for an extended period of time. Yeah, true. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I feel like it was still the same. I don't think so because we get we we're getting so much news at once, I think. That's why. I mean, because yeah, I mean, we're in an era to where it's like there's so much content out there for whatever it is, it does get diluted. So, I mean, I I agree with that part. Yeah, that's what I mean on that aspect. In terms of like it'll still be talked about, but just the way like the algorithm set up, you're not gonna see it when you open your socials every single time. Unless that's true. Unless you're subscribing to certain platforms or whatever. Or you're consistently keeping up with it. Exactly, exactly. And it's hard. I mean, it's hard to like break through the noise like that unless, like I said, something crazy or drastic happens. Um but before we get into like the Monday rundown news, I mean, what are you excited for the most this this when the warm weather's coming out? I mean What am I excited for the most? Yeah, like in terms of like, you know, sun's out, you know, city about to be vibe. You know, the city and act everything is active when the sun comes out. I mean, I'm I'm definitely excited for more so of the outdoor vibes. Yeah. Like whatever the case may be. Yeah. It could be concerts, it could be just a rooftop vibe, it could just just be, I don't know, just being outdoors. Like, I mean, I'm a type of person to where it's like in the winter, I don't I hate the winter. So as long as it still like has some sort of like you know, breeze or it can be hot and I can wear shorts. Do you like do you like the because we're having we're having the we're having this debate? I was on the phone with um I was on the phone with Julian. We were chopping it up. We were talking about what's better, like the the night scene or or like the day vibes when it's warm out. I'm a proponent for it. I like the day vibes when it's warm out. Or the night scene when it's warm out. Yeah. I don't know. I like I like the night scene when it's warm out is a little different. So it was a day, the day scene when it's like it's a different area. I don't know. But that night scene when it's when it's warm out, yeah. Yeah, I think the nightlife during the when it's like spring summer. What do you think it is about that? I mean nobody wants to go home, huh? I mean, nobody wants to go home. People are, yeah, you're wearing the fits, but it's more so like clearly spring weather fits. I'm keeping the PG. You know what I mean? But like, you get it. Yeah. You see, there's more skin. Pause. You're not wrong about that. You're not you're not wrong about that, you feel me? Yeah, I mean, there's no urgency to go home because it's also warm out. It's like that breeze is hitting at the nighttime. Right? Yeah, right? Yeah. Versus when it's wet cold out, bro. Whoa, you know. Let's get to point A to point B. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm I'm I'm excited. I'm excited for everything's gonna be open till 4 a.m. now. How do you feel about that? Do you think it's gonna be a lot more? City's gonna be lit. It's gonna be lit for sure, but do you think do you think it's gonna be cause more problems? Hell yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

If all the bars, everything's gonna be open to a four, bro. Shit, that shit's gonna be crazy. That shit's gonna be treacherous. That shit's gonna be crazy. Does that mean like the after hour spots are gonna be open even later now? Because if all the bars are over to four, like, shit's not closed until 6-7. 7 a.m. Yeah, that shit's gonna be crazy. People are not going to work. It's gonna be a great summer. Fuck yeah, it's gonna be a great summer. Great spring and summer. That's all I gotta say. Yeah, it's gonna be a great ass summer, bro. And it's not gonna go back to 2 a.m. You don't think so? Why? They're gonna see how much money it makes and it's keeping it. Hell yeah. Because the main day, I think, is only because, like, obviously, FIFA and all that stuff coming. All that shit, but like everything's coming. You saw you saw Xfinity open up a new part of the new part of their outside venue, too. Like a Stateside Live, hell yeah. Oh yeah, that's what's that's called now. Stateside live? Yeah. I didn't know it changed the name to be honest. They won the bowl and they had now they're upgrading. Yeah, they got the like the outdoor deck now, like a patio outdoors, like a little upper level. They upgrading, bro. Yeah, city putting money, they put money into the city now. They put money into the city now. I can't I can't lie, they win in bowls, bro. They went in bowls. I mean, they have my team, but like they went in bowls. Yeah. Um, they didn't win this reason, bro, but you get it. But what the one thing I was gonna ask too before we jump into the the money rundown news, as off this topic, but um I was listening to King Vaughn, right? Can't relate. And the question that came to my mind was who do you think would have been bigger if they didn't pass away? Like bigger in terms of artists. Oh, they didn't pass away. Pop smoke or King Vaughn? Right, pop. You think so? Pop. Woo? I don't know. I mean, don't get me wrong, King Vaughn. I mean, clearly we was listening to the song, we was rocking out to the shit, but like the woo, I mean he his energy's a little bit different. His a little different, but so was Vaughn. Like Vaughn had the thing. Nah, had the things on lock too. You're right, you're right, he definitely did, but I'm saying Pop, Pop was on his run, but when Pop came to the scene, bro, he just went went like on some like He did. He did. He he, he, he, he came up. They call him Lil' Fitty. A hundred percent, but like, but Vaughn, when he was because Vaughn's run wasn't that long either. Vaughn. He wasn't it was about two years. If that like like two years? Nah, he had like what, like 2018, 2019? Yeah, I'll say that. I'll say it was like yeah, a little. Let me see, let me see, let me see the yeah. Because when he died. I don't want to look up, I want to make sure I get it right. Because Crazy Story came out about like 2017, 2018 or something like that. Had to be. Yeah, I'm gonna look at that. Because that's when his first when he was on the Breakfast Club and Dirk was, you know, kind of like basically rolled on wrong drawn out and shit. Yeah. If I remember correctly. So yeah, so 2018, it was the OTF era when um he first uh when Crazy Story came out and problems came out. 2019 was the breakout, um Crazy Story 2.0, uh Crazy Story 3 featuring Dirk. Um took that's when he took her to the O, which went crazy. Um popped out. 2020 is when he uh went mainstream. Um when he dropped Armed and Dangerous, the code with uh Polo G. All these niggas with Lil' Dirk. Um Yeah, so that's so his his run was really like he twenty he said twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen. Um in twenty twenty he had he's about to hit that, okay, he could be a star, but that's kind of when like obviously COVID happened, people weren't doing shows. Yeah. And then he what died in 2021? Uh twenty nah, but he before then. Cause he said Oh, he died in 2020. Uh I'll figure out what it says 2021 was when this post I feel I just say post-ophemus album dropped, so maybe that year he died and they dropped the album after. I I don't want to get the date wrong, but yeah. So that that era, and when Pop Smoke was on the run during the same time, it says Pop really wasn't there for that long, bro. It says uh 2018 uh is when he first came out with NPR, um Heavy UK drill influence, and then 2019 was the breakout year when Welcome to the Party dropped, Dior, PTSD with Lil TJ, and then early 2020, um, that's when Shake the Room dropped, Christopher Walken, and then mid to late 2020s when they dropped the album after you uh when when like his music really took off. Well not in like 2020, 29. So they both had like that short they kind of say. But see when they're desperate, bro. See when they're desperate, because I mean like they were yeah, but Pop Smoke shit was a little bit more You think so? Yeah You see the song Pop Smoke's records definitely went crazy. I'm not gonna say Bo was just on like it felt like Bo was like on some, not on the run. He was just it was just flashes of them. They died in the same year. Uh Pop was February 19th, 2020. Yeah. And King Vaughn was November 6th, 2020. That's crazy. So they right there. So Vaughn died before. Vaughn died after. After, excuse me, at the end of the year. Top of the year was Pop Smoke and the King Vaughn. So it was like, they was literally the next same trade. That's why I put the comparison. They both kind of like they both, when they're saying it was pop, bro. Pop, pop was a little bit more, because he had that UK sound on his on the phone. He had the UK sound, but Chicago, bro. Chicago. Do you always welcome to the O Bring to the O? Welcome to the O. Okay. I mean, welcome to the party was a little bit. I mean, Pop's. Come on now. I don't know. The reason I asked that question is also because it's like who had more energy, bro. He and he had dirt cosigned. Come on, nigga. That's what I'm saying. But that's why I'm saying, that's why I said that King Vaughn probably would have maybe would have been the big artist. Really, oh? I mean, pop smoke was popping to the scene. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, New York too. Yeah, New York behind you. Yeah, New York, New York, New York, and all the old heads was cosigning. Co-signing him, bro. He was a young, wild young nigga. That's a good question. Oh was only 20. Yeah, yeah. This is a question for the compound for the listeners. Who would have been the bigger artist if they had not passed away? King Vaughn or Pop Smoke? I would like to hear what everybody said. I'd like to hear everybody say. That was the question I had. So I mean, that's a great debate. Odo has was embracing King Vaughn too. Okay, but we're talking about now. We're talking about in the US and now globally pop, bro. Yeah, the UK sound. I don't know, man. I I I I get your argument, but like I said, with OT with OTF behind Vaughn, Chicago, you know how they are when they're pushing the artists as well. Like, yeah, yeah, New York is New York, but New York is New York. But Chicago New York's the Mecca. But Chicago was having Chicago was at that at that time when they were coming. Like Chicago was the bigger brand at the time. In my opinion. Okay, but then they New York is still New York. Chicago had a Chicago drills on lock. New York was still New York. New York is still New York, but Chicago drills on lock. Where are they cutting the checks at? Where are they going to get the artists? Okay, where are they cutting the checks at? Chicago. Where are they cutting the checks at? LA. And where? New York? Alright then. What's that mean though? So they're gonna put, they're gonna represent New York. Alright. Alright. We can agree to disagree. I don't really disagree with that. A lot of them, a lot of them dudes that are really like the ARs and all that, they from New York. You're right. You're right. Pop did have that aura though. Yeah, that's what we did. He did that or he had that charisma. And he had that voice. You're not wrong. Welcome to the party. But um, yeah, like I said, I'm listening to I'm interested to hear what the listeners have to say um on that, and then we can go from there. Let's jump into some let's jump into some Monday rundown news. There's a lot to discuss. Um there's a lot of discussions. There's a lot that's been going on in the world. There's a lot, there's a lot. Let's start with um the Ashley Janae story. Ashley Robinson, um, who's someone that we grew up with that's from our area, um, that recently went viral um for she recently passed away in Zanzibar. So just give a just to give a uh a background about who she is. For all the listeners, I'm sure everybody's heard the story by now. It's it's taking overs on TMZ, it was on CBS, ABC, and everything. It's viral. It went it went it went crazy, bro. My my group chats were my group chats were going crazy just based off, you know, the proximity. Like she's from our area, the neighborhood, so like down the street pretty much. Um so when we saw this, everybody a lot of people didn't want in my group chat, a lot of people were just they necessarily didn't believe it at first. Because, you know, it was so close to home. They were everybody was like, Ashley, I can't be Ashley, like she because of everything that she just posting will go into it. But um it was definitely surprising, definitely sad, definitely shocking, and there's been like a lot of mixed reviews on socials about just the reporting and how people are just reacting to the whole scenario in general. Um so a quick summary is um Ashley, she's uh she's was 31 years old when she passed away. Um considered uh uh she's a notable model influencer, um, seen in like a lot of music videos, um, modeling across the uh the internet as well. Um she passed away while being in Zanzibar with her her fiance at the time. She had just celebrated her thirty first birthday, which is on April 5th, I believe, um, had just got engaged. Her post went viral on social, so everybody you know was happy for her, congratulating her. Um, she seemed like she was in great spirits. Um, and then days later, news comes out that she passed away. The initial reports had said that uh she had committed suicide. Um, but when the timeline had came out based on what happened, a lot of what her friends were saying and things of that nature, um, a lot of people didn't agree with it. Um so since then uh a lot of reports um have came out about like what actually happened based on what like hotel staff was saying, um, what people that were in the vicinity were saying was going on. Um so I'm just gonna go down like the timeline of events of kind of like what people were were detailing, then we can give our thoughts on the entire thing, and then how like the internet reacted to it, and if the internet was valid and like the reaction. So, like I said, she was in Zanzibar, she celebrated her 31st birthday. She got engaged a few days before her death. Um, allegedly, according to reports and like hotel staff, she got in an argument. He did an argument with her fiance shortly before the incident um took place. Um, hotel staff said they had separated them into two different rooms. Um, and then she was later found unconscious in her villa and died at the hospital. Um, initial reports suggested it was possible um suicide by hanging with the belt. However, no um final cause of death has been confirmed yet. There's still an ongoing investigation. Um her fiance, um Joseph McCann, is being questioned by police. His passport has been confiscated, and no one has been officially charged yet. Um so when you heard this story, or when we were like read um the story went viral and everybody's kind of discussing it, what were your initial thoughts? I know my initial thoughts was like I said when I when I brought into the segment was crazy. Um the suicide, uh the alleged suicide kind of seemed off to me just knowing who Ashley is, and then just also like the post that everybody's seen. Um and then the reaction on social media was kind of crazy. Um how people, you know how we were talking about like how news stories kind of go back to wayside, like the actual news story of her passing away became like the secondary um story behind it, and the story about like how she talked about black men became like the headline story. So one, I want to start with like, what do you think about the actual story getting lost in the sauce and it becoming like a social trend about like uh black men getting bashed, black women this, or the or or um just like women like going after men with money, that became like the headline stories as opposed to like the actual death. Yeah, um, I mean, so you did you find out through like socials or just through like people? Through what do you mean, what do you mean? Like about this whole thing. Through people, text her, like it broke, it broke the text there before it broke on the news, yeah. Well, because like you said, proximity, that which is kind of crazy because I'm not laughing at that. I'm just laughing like it's it's it's crazy because clearly we grew up in the same area as this person and everything like that, but like how it she's all the way in Africa, yep. And and it got back to America less than not say 24 hours. It was like 24, 48 hours, give or take. But I'm saying, and then once you know, you know, we start hearing, okay, yo, you're you hear about Ashley? Yo, like apparently, like she like hung herself, or that's that's what that's what's gonna be. That's the that's the report said initially, yeah. And then it's like the rumors right. Cause I'm like, because clearly it's like she's a little bit older than me. Like, she's your grade, isn't she? Graduated. Yeah, yeah, went to the C graduated class. And then I was like, oh shit, like, but then you know, people that know her clearly like say, like, that's not really her spirit, yeah. You know what I mean? So then it's like, damn, like, like, did she you're thinking like, did she this happen here? But then the people say, nah, she was in Africa. I'm like, Africa, like then they were saying, okay, she was she was getting proposed to. I'm like, all right, well, it's like, if she's getting proposed to, why would hanging yourself be one of those final acts for you after you just said yes? Exactly. You get what I'm saying? Did it make sense? It didn't lie. Like, it's a little, it's a little gray, that's a gray area right there. That's a major gray area. And then this is like, you find out, it's like, okay, who's the guy? Then it's like, obviously, first reaction, who cares if it's interracial, but it's like, you know, just off of just you know, busting chops and busting balls, it's like, no, damn, you dang him, right? Right, right, right. And then he looks a little like, he already looks a little like off. Yeah. Just ball off of just appearance and or just I don't know what it is. It's just the energy thing. I don't know the dude from a can of paint, but it just looks like you know, he's just weird. And then you see like his picture with like the like that, you know, what's it called? The mask over the bandana mask over. It's like, what the hell? Yeah, and then you find out he's like a CEO of like some like so it's like it was like uh cryptocurrency. Yeah, and it's like, what the fuck? What you get yourself into? Unfortunately, like then you find out like he has like a like a wife and ex-wife, so they say, but they probably still together. Yeah, like like I said, the all these reports start coming out, and it's just like and then you see the video of like him, like he's like, Oh, he's crying. You see the video of him crying? I didn't see the video. I didn't see the video. I don't know if that's actually him walking because he burred his face out, but he was walking like crying with like the policeman. Oh no, I didn't see I didn't see that footage. I didn't see that footage. But like the like you said, the whole timeline doesn't add up, and then like, and then when you hear, when you watch the interview with her, her mom did an interview on a couple different platforms. Yeah, it looked like they were real censored. Yeah, it did look like that. But but also like when she was doing the when they were when her parents were doing the um the interview on like ABC or whatever it was, um, the thing that stood out to me was like the fiance, the guy, he didn't he wasn't in communication with their parents like that, which is weird. Like if you just proposed to somebody as your fiance, wouldn't you think you would be keeping them up to date with what's going on since you're the only person over there? Like Oh, if like when that situation happened. When the situation happened, like if you like if your fiance just died, wouldn't you contact the mom? If it's not like I mean, I'm thinking it like this, right? Right. If that happened, and let's say the Zanzibarian police came and all that, and they had that question and do all that, like debriefing on him and situation, it could like I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt, it could build up to like hours, several hours. No, for sure. Like to where it's like, okay, he's getting released, then he's telling them right after. I'm not trying to give him an alibi, but like, you get what I'm saying? Yeah, but I'm saying, like, even after you release, they said there was no communication at all. He said it was 11 hours after, no? Yeah, but they said, like, I'm saying though, even so, even if it is 11 hours after, right? He talked to him. Cool, that's the initial point of content told him what's going on. But like, since then, there's still no communication like that. That's kind of weird. Like, since after they told him what to happen, they still don't talk. Yeah, that's just that's what they the parents were like that. We still have had no real communication. The hospital told them what happened. That's what the hospital's ones communicating to tell them. Like, he like he wasn't the one, like Oh, he wasn't the one that told him. Yeah, the hospital told them. Like, he didn't say shit. The hospital told him they he didn't say the weird, bro. Okay, I thought it was 11 hours after the situation. The boy, but she, but, but, but she the the mom in the interview said her mom was literally said like the hospital told them like what went down, what happened. Not yes, but was he wasn't he like a quote unquote arrested at the time then? Nah, not not to my I mean not to my knowledge, or not arrested, but like not to my knowledge. No, not to my knowledge, not based on what they said in the interview. So it's like that whole that whole scenario is just weird in general. But I don't know, man. I mean, there's still reports coming out. I know they finished like the autopsy on her They took his passport. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They took his passport and everything. Um, but what I'm saying is I I know they I know they um finished like autopsy, but the report didn't come out like what the actual cause of death is. I know they said there's like strangulation. I said that like the Philadelphia or some like whoever it was that did test or whatever said, yeah, it came back as strangulation. Yeah, the strangulation, but I'm saying like they didn't announce like official cause of death yet, I don't think. They just told like what it could have been. Strangulation, bro. You said what? Strangulation. I know, but I'm saying like when I read, I was reading the report earlier today, they didn't say that's the official cause of death yet. They said that there's strangulation and obviously there's marks around her, but I don't know like if the official report came out in the news that said this. Like, I don't want to just say that's it. No, no, it's a fact. That's a fact, it's a fact. But but when it when it when it Well, yeah, you're right. Strangulation, like what type of strangulation? Yeah, could have stranged hung, could have somebody killed you, killed you. That's what I mean by that. Still a known, that's great. Yeah, so when it comes to that, I mean, one, my first another initial thought was just like, dang, like, as a parent, like your daughter's body's in a whole other part of the world, bro. In Zanzibaria, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, it's literally 20, like, how far is Zanzibaria from here? It's probably like 17 hours, bro. Flight. No drive, flight. Yeah, I mean, that that has to be hard, man. That's hard, bro. You're really you're fighting out your daughter, and it's not even from the man that you know she's with, saying, Oh, yeah, your daughter passed away, type shit. Like the police, I mean, the hospital's calling you. It's like, yo, why isn't this man not telling me what happened? And the thing is, you just said that that the guy didn't really give details to the party. It's 18 to 24 hours travel time. Yeah. The guy didn't give any detail to the to the parent. So clearly that's a great area, too. Let me ask you this. Um, since you're a pops, like when you when you when you uh when you think about like a from a parent standpoint, like you obviously like one day you're gonna give your daughter off to someone, like when when um that time comes, like like how as a as a dad, how deep are you gonna vet like and I'm not putting like I'm not putting this on like any parents? This is a question that just comes out of my mind, like in terms of like when the time for when engagement happens, something like that, are you gonna be are you gonna like do a deep dive before you just you know? I mean, it I feel like any parent should do a deep dive on the people they're your dog your kids are around. Right. Like not just me, I'm just saying, like, yeah, know what ecosystem she's getting herself into. Yeah, because the I mean you gotta clearly let her find her way and her friends and who she wants to be around and have a future with, but uh, yeah. Yeah, no, the reason I was asking, because like another another theme or not theme, but like thing that I that I kind of like noticed during the interview is like it didn't seem like they really knew him that well. Like when it came to I mean, but like you know what I mean, like she probably was just doing her thing, you know what I mean. I mean, I'm not even saying like not to be like rude or anything. She probably was just doing her thing, living her life to where it's like she's grown. Yeah, no, you're right wrong. I was curious. That's one of the points that came that came to came to my head because like like I said, like that's probably like the worst. As like a parent, it's probably this type of thing's probably like the worst thing you can like imagine. Like you, like your daughter gets engaged, she has a fiance, you're like, you're trusting this person with you with your child, and then the next few days you find that like that. That's why I brought that up. Yeah, it's I mean, shit, yeah, hell yeah, it's crazy. I mean, but that's just on the parents, too, for having you need to have that somewhat of a relationship with your child of just communication. Not saying they don't. Yeah, I know you're saying generally speaking. And then as we continue on this conversation, like you know what I'm saying? No, I get what you're saying. Yeah, I get what you're saying when it comes to that. As you can see on the conversation though, what do you what are your thoughts on like just the internet discourse? How they're just they're kind of they're really just kind of kicking her, like on the X at least, they're going, they're they're they're like tearing her down, bro. I kinda didn't really I didn't really rock. That's I think it's his proximity. Um What do you mean by that? We know her. Yeah, but I I know I get what you mean. I get what you mean by that. Like you get what I'm saying? Like, I get it. So I just like it is kind of crazy. I mean, that people just don't have like empathy to the situation. At the end of the day, Shorty like you say, like you said, logged off in a whole different country with when she just got engaged and it was just her birthday. Yeah, that's that's kind of crazy. You know what I mean? It's very crazy, and uh but I mean in reality, it's like what can you say? True, like that's the stuff that they say that it stays on the internet. Yeah, I mean, are people wrong for having that thought process? If that's like the digital footprint that's left, nah. People aren't wrong. It's just like half of these people that see this story, they go to her page and they probably want to do a deep dive to see, oh, what's a conspiracy theory that I can come up with, but then they come across that shit and it's like, oh, she didn't like she downs black men and this, that, and a third. And it's like, what like what can you say? This is the shit was from 2013. Yeah, 2013 before way before. And then it's like you feel like when you have a when you're looking from like a bird's eye view, yeah. If you don't, like like you said, you made a valid point that I'm speaking from proximity when it comes like the empathy aspect of actually knowing, yeah, actually knowing who she is. Um, and then these people are just once majority of them probably just trolls and want to just talk, hear their voice heard, and then it's like they're coming from an outside perspective, they don't know, they're just seeing what's what's left behind, essentially. I mean, it's crazy, man. Um, but yeah, we're gonna continue to follow the start. I don't know if you had did you have anything else when it came to this? No, I just the one thing I will say just it's it what's funny to me is when black women, black women are the first ones to jump out the window and say, oh, she sees this is why black women can't get black men and all this bullshit, because like the comments and whatnot. Well, yeah, that was part of the discourse too. That was a major part of the discourse. That's why I said at the beginning. Yeah, I'm just saying, like, but yeah, to me, it's just like, why? Like, if anything, you're down, you're you're making the culture look even worse by just even trying to down her. Yeah, and that and that's why I said that's why I said like the the main story should be her death got overrode over overrold by these other main stories, like you're saying, like whether it comes to who she was dating, the the um the discourse that you just explained, um, what she was doing to make money, what all that type of stuff became the headline of everything at the moment. Who's the the main like outside of like black women, like race is the pushing these type of stories and narratives? Black people. Yeah. It's wicked. It's wicked, man. It's wicked, man. It's it's it's crazy out there, bro. But like I said, this story, this story is super sad. Um, real prayers out there, like her family. Like I said, this that's super close to home. Um, someone, someone that I grew up with, someone that I knew, all that type of thing. So I hope we continue to get like the news to come out, um, story to come out, so we can like the truth that happens. Um, so one, she can rest in peace, and then also um justice can be served. This is this is this is crazy, man. This is crazy. So yeah, stuff like that really don't happen on a vacation resort. Yeah. Is it is it weird when something like that happens so close to home? What do you mean? Like something like this, like you know how we always like you see true crime stuff like happen. Nah, I feel like for whatever, like that is to be honest, like just with like our proximity, as you would say, there's there was a lot of weird like passings and stuff like that just around us to where it's like something like this is very crazy and like what the fuck? But it's like it's not really surprising because it's like everything that we've like, whether we friends, people that went to our school or whatever, it was no never really like a natural death. True. True. Uh alright, another another case that we've been following. Another case that we've been following, um D4 D4 VD. That's how you pronounce his name. Is it David? D4 VD.

SPEAKER_05

Let's rock with that.

SPEAKER_06

Let's rock with that. So before we were we were following this case a few months ago Um about artists Rising Arts D4 V D and a body being found in the back of his uh his Tesla, I believe it was. And he no arrests have been made when it came to him specifically. But the internet kind of, like they said, solved this case months ago saying that he did it or whatever it was, but he technically wasn't there, and all this type of stuff. There's lyrics in the song that alluded to all these things that happened um aligning with this this young girl's death. Um so I'm gonna reiterate the story and then I just need to hear like our thoughts on what do you think is gonna happen to him, like when it comes to career-wise, do you think he's gonna get convicted? The police taking such a long time to arrest him in the first place, based on all the all the uh details that we know in general. Um so the quick summary of his D4VD was arrested in Los Angeles in connection to a teenage girl whose body was found in uh his car months ago. The case has now been ruled a homicide, um, but he has not officially been charged yet. A little bit deeper context for you. Um the vic the victim was missing for over a year before being found. Um the body, like I said, was discovered in his Tesla after it was impounded. Um investigation took months due to uh sealed evidence um plus a grand jury. Um and he's currently being held without bail while prosecutors decide what charges um they're gonna lay on him. Um what we don't know is the exact cause of death, the relationship between him and the victim, um, and whether he acted alone or even directly caused it. Um so I mean with this going on um with this story, do you think it's chips for him? I mean, it's very vague what you said, but like I mean, just because we know kind of what happened before, like when we talked about it in the past. Yeah, I get it. I mean, is his fingerprints on it? Is it like I mean, he got arrested. So they convicted him. So clearly they think they have some sort of evidence. Now, it's like uh what led to this? Yeah, that and that's that's what we said. Like what did he act alone? And the victim's name is Celeste Rivera, uh Rebus uh Hernandez. I'm about to say that as well, too. But yeah, like like you said, like But the name of it, like it's just like what led to this? Like, you know what I mean? What led to this? Like they was it's how long? It's been like a year almost, no? Yeah, they said the girls, the the body was missing since was went missing in April 2024. Oh, yeah, and then it was discovered in September of last year, and now he's just now getting arrested. Two years. Damn near, yeah. So this is weird. It's a little weird, and then all of a sudden it hit mainstream media. You know what I mean? I feel like this whole this whole case came out of nowhere. Yeah, I mean, it did. It did. But I think it happened because when the car got impounded, that's when everything because the girl was missing, they didn't know where she was, and his car got impounded, and that's when they found the body. You know what I'm saying? So my thing is why wasn't he the first person that got arrested? Like, if dead bodies in your car, wouldn't you think they would arrest somebody? They're like, boy, he's still on tour, all that type of shit. I don't know if you remember that we were talking about it. I do, yeah, bro. I I don't this whole situation is weird. It just like did they not have enough, like the car got impounded, like meaning like for repo? Yeah, compounded was your car that's taken. Yeah, and then they opened it up because he probably was trying to sell it and all that shit, because he found the body in that joint. The repo people were involved with it. What you mean? Like, they had the body was gone since 2024. Yeah, but they didn't know where the body was and then until and this car got impounded. Like way later. It got impounded because he didn't pay the bill for what I don't I don't know why it got impounded. I can look to see why it got impounded, but this you see what I'm saying? There's so much, like, okay, why did it get impounded? It don't make sense. This shit don't make sense. I don't know. I'm about to see why I got impounded. Let's see. Like, it was abandoned and legally parked, like it was just abandoned for a while. It was an abandoned, like his car is illegally parked and just abandoned, like nobody just left it there. So that means whoever committed the murder left the car there and dipped. So I'm not gonna say that the repo people were. No, no, they weren't involved. No, no. No, I'm just saying, I'm I'm just asking, I'm asking, I'm throwing shit on the wall right now, is what I'm saying. Like, okay, so he left the car there for that long, and then all of a sudden it got impounded. Yeah, I mean, if your car is abandoned, it's gonna like you know, cars just not get impounded for just sitting there for a day or something. Unless he left that bitch on the highway. Nah, it says it was parked illegally in the neighbors, then the neighbors like there's like odor and all that type of stuff, and they Oh probably was like in the neighborhood, he just left that shit there, and he probably like people neighbors. He said like workers noticed the strong odor, and then authorities checked the vehicle and discovered there was a body in the trunk. So it didn't have to do like a guy. I I'm I'm I'm following you on that ad. I'm just saying, uh I'm getting context. I'm trying to wrap my head around it. Yeah, so I wonder if he I wonder like one, like they said, did he act alone or did he, or was it by himself? Or did someone set him up? Because like I said, the bull was on tour at the time. So we don't know, we don't know when this initially happened either. We just know when she went missing. We don't know like when the death actually happened. Apparently they had a romantic relationship too. He had a he made a song called Romantic Homicide or something something like that, they said on on um on the news report, like relating to that. And it's like Yeah, yeah, the song's gonna try to. And she was underage too. Right. So that all plays a factor into into maybe he didn't want that to get out. You know what I'm saying? That he was messing with someone else underage, so he did X, Y, and Z. I don't know, it's all alleged, but like I wonder, I wonder what's what's gonna happen. Because his law they say his lawyers are saying that he didn't kill her. Obviously he's gonna keep saying that, but like there's no there's nothing that really sticks right now unless the the law enforcement finds some more. I mean he didn't kill her. He I mean technically he could have been a conspiracy if he was on tour why she got killed. Yeah, I don't know, man. Like you know what I mean. There's so many cable uh variables to this shit. What do you think is the most likely? What happened? Yeah, what do you think is the most likely thing that happened? I mean, if he's on tour and she got killed while she was on tour. No, she was found while he was out of the country on tour. We don't know when she the we don't know when the actual death is. Like it's like when he was when he when she was found, like we talked when we talked about it last time on LaPaul, like he was out still touring this, like he was out still touring and stuff, because they were like, oh, why is he still touring if there's a body found in the strong? They never stopped. He's acting like he doesn't know. Yeah, so like that's what I'm saying. Like, what do you think is the most likely now? Because if her body was found while he's out on the belt, like obviously the murder probably happened before. Murder for hire. You never know. Could have been murdered for hire. That's I wonder how I wonder how they're gonna make this. I wonder how law enforcement is gonna make this stick though on him conspiracy. How so explain? I mean, if like I said, if his alibi is, you know, that he was gone, he and if let's say he has recordings. Or text threads about a conversation to log somebody off. True. Yeah, but you music, you I feel like I mean you can get convicted off like the words that you say in your music, but I don't think that's gonna be strong. True. I think I think the tech thread is gonna be the thing in the relationship that he had with the girl. Or the person who did it actually did it. That's just crazy though. Um people flip like a motherfucker. You gotta think about it. If he didn't do it, like if he didn't actually do it, but the person who did it said, you know, he told me to do this for X amount of money or whatever. Yeah, you never you never know. Like I said, the murder fire could be that's a that's a valid thing too, as well. But I don't know, this is a this is one of the two stories we're definitely gonna be following. I wanna see what happens because like I outside of just the car and the body being in there, like I have no idea what's gonna what else is. Is he a big artist? Like in the younger generation, he is. Oh yeah, he's like he's a rising like artist in the in the younger generation for sure. I had to look him up when we when it was the story, like he has a he has a decent following, all that type of stuff. That's why I became that's why I became like um such news. But we'll see. Let's um jump into the face of the future song of the day, presented by MBT Media. If you're listening to us on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, telephone and telephone about today's episode. Um, the face of the future song of the day comes from Stoveg Cooks and Nigel Sylvester. Um, they just did a collab for um Nigel Sylvester's uh Jordan collab titled Brick by Brick. Um, this record is new. It got aired on um on socials, heard it. Definitely gotta give listeners a listen to this one. This one's called Brick After Nigel Sylvester Stoveg Cooks. We're gonna let it ride.

SPEAKER_01

I just spin that for the water spinning. Brick after the brick, the brick in the brick after the joke. We will dream it through the laughter. I got the coach my mouth back. Put so much time in the mouth, break after the break, put my mama you can ask. I got the coach my mouth back, put so much time in my butt in the night, it's in the last one. Break open the door, cook it with your eyes closed backwards. Now you ready for the break. When I land it on the big step, cooking with my mouth, we run it to the back. I got the coach on my back. Put so much time in my rolling in the nap. Brick after brick the brick.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god. Is that the faces of the future?

SPEAKER_06

Once again, that was Nigel Sylvester, Stove Got Cooks, and Cello Brick After. Go spend that solid record. That whole collab was crazy that they did with the Jordan brand as well. For all the people that are the fashion and sneakers. Um that drone's crazy. Um, we got some more Monday rundown news. Um, we're gonna shift over a little bit to some music, some other stuff. Um, it says Warner, it says WMG and Netflix have entered an exclusive multi-gear first look partnership to produce documentary films and series focusing on WMG's extensive artist and songwriter roster. Um, it says this deal aims to produce music-driven content with WMG partnering with the uh production company uh Unigram to create projects developed alongside artists in their estates. Um more details, and then I'll get we'll get our thoughts on this. Um it says the collaboration will focus on producing documentary films and series exploring the lives of music, uh exploring the lives, music, and legacies of both legendary and contemporary artists on the WMG uh roster. Um, this is an exclusive multi-year first look deal. Um and then each project will be developed in cl in collaboration with the artists themselves or their estates. Um So, what do you think about this? Netflix, Netflix um going this route, partnering with Warner, partnering with the music label to have like first look to do documentaries and things of that nature. I know we um we we were talking we've been talking about like the shift of these platforms and how they're gonna get the upper hand. Um do you think this is gonna this you think this is like the first step uh of us seeing different platforms partner with labels, labels trying to get partnerships like this to get money to produce stuff for their artists, whether it be alongside an album, whether it be um doing doing things like you said with artists that passed away, kind of like how the Michael Jackson doctors dropped, them doing more things like that. Like what do you think this is this is shifting towards? Yeah, I feel like it's it's shifting more into like you know, artists having you know creative control in like film now. Um, you know, we're gonna have these documentaries, we're gonna have, you know, producers, artists leading soundtracks of movies and stuff like that, whether it be in, you know, you know, hip-hop or or whether it be country, whatever it is, any genre. Um I think it it's gonna be dope because you're gonna start having these biopics, they're gonna have these documentaries, gonna have these TV shows and series. So it's just like it's definitely an avenue to for where one these legacy acts can show like the directing side and the producing bag and or just executive producing bag of just upcoming content or true young creators or whatever. Well, the I'll go ahead, my body cut you out. But no, no, I'm just saying, oh no, I think this is good for the arts. No, I think it's good for the art too. I think this this goes into kind of what I was kind of alluding to when we discussed about them, maybe obviously like YouTube has the has the biggest platform, like original content just based on like the user base, people uploading things. And with Netflix doing this type of deal, obviously they just did a deal with a big pot. I think it was iHeart to have the podcasting on there. They're doing Warner? Warner. Warner Warner Music Group. Damn, they must have done another Damn, they're just not getting the catalog, but they're doing uh they're getting their still bodies. Yeah, yeah. And uh what I was gonna what I was going to um when it when it came when I when my thought um was when it comes to that, like they're they just did a deal with the iHeart to get like podcasts, which is real content. Now they're doing this with the artists to take over their content. They're still getting cataloged, bro. No, I know, I know, I know. Which is crazy. No, my no, I'm not my bad. I'm just really thinking like they just were just in a bidding award with obviously whomever, Paramount, right? To get physical video catalog, but they're still getting audio catalog. Again, all the own video catalog when it comes to this deal. Um, yeah, you're right. Yeah, because this this is gonna be like a lot of like you said, the original content was whether it be vlogs, whether it be documentaries, or there'll be all that. And what I what I was what I was getting to when it came to that was like, um I'm a genius. Netflix is really shifting things. That's why I said, like, what is what is what is YouTube gonna do to compete with Netflix? Netflix is essentially trying to buy up everything, bro. Yeah, but no, I guess it goes back to my point where I was saying last time about like Netflix is making original content to where it's like YouTube is like that, but it's but it's original content through uh film. Not just film. Yeah, no, it's not just film. You have the YouTube music, you have you have people. I'm talking about Netflix. Oh, you're talking about what do you mean? Like original film. But I don't think it's just gonna be film though. What else? I think they're gonna start doing vlog stuff, bro. Like they're gonna have people following them around and posting on there like as if they're uploading it to a YouTube just in a different way. It's they may not call it that, but it's gonna be that type of format, like where it's almost gonna be like reality type shit, bro. I think that's gonna be avenue they're going. If you're seeing the art following the artists' lives and stuff, whether it be through documentaries, yeah, films gonna be one thing where they're doing docs. But I think that's a good thing. I mean, a vlog style is still a form of a doc. I mean, yeah, I mean, if would you consider like an example, like to keep it up with Gars, is that a doc, you think? Or that that's more like a that's more like more of a reality show. Yeah, so I'm saying like I feel as though I mean do you consider vlogs docs? Yeah, hell yeah. Okay. When you're vlogging something, that's document. I know, I know I'm saying I mean I'm just I didn't know if you consider it. Yeah, but I think it's like more short form as a form, like a documentary film. Yeah, because a documentary film is more of uh just a higher budget. Yeah, so I think this, I think, yeah, they're gonna have documentary films, but I think they're also gonna be having instead of artists, like you know how you see Baby Kim drop the uh vlogs for his um, not vlogs, but like you said, mini docs for his um for his latest album. Like I think now they're gonna just do that through Netflix, or it's dropping exclusively on Netflix, that type of thing. So they're competing with like a YouTube. It's not really competing, still its own little niche. How so? I don't know if it's a little niche because instead of artists going YouTube is a little bit more raw and and raw and cut when it comes to like film, like not film, when it comes to like putting out content, but like Netflix is a little bit more organized and sh- I mean YouTube's still structured, but it it gives the feel of just as if like anybody can do it. So whereas like the like the example you said, like for baby King, it's more of a structured vlog. I I I I hear you when it comes to that, but like even when we talked about um how we talked about last episode, Tubi partner was like TikTok. Yeah, like these platforms are are trying to like take everything so these creators can't post on like a post on like a YouTube or whatever it may be. Is that makes it right? So I'm saying like that's why I asked the question. I'm like, alright, so if if if if what's YouTube's play gonna be now in terms of like to keep these bigger creators posting on their platforms? Or do you think they're just gonna try to continue to be a discovery platform where just the newer people are gonna do you think that's gonna be their new niche? I told you it's gonna be more of a um video engine source. It's interesting because like my mind's racing about like what the direction's gonna go. Because I'm trying to figure out like it's gonna be like a Google, my nigga. I'm trying to figure out what what what what Netflix's play is, because like Netflix, like you can see the play, obviously with everything they're buying up with catalog, new catalog, all that type of stuff. But like, what is their overall platform? What's the image gonna be like four or five years from now? What's Netflix gonna look like? Yeah, because it's not just gonna be movies and stuff like that. It's gonna be it's gonna be more than just that. Like you're already putting podcast shows, you're gonna start by, it's gonna go into like they're gonna have they already have sports too, live sports. So, like, what are what are they gonna like what are they pushing towards? That's why I said YouTube has live sports, they have docs, they have they have catalogs. Yeah, they already have the pillars to make original animations, original film. They're trying to be like a Disney, bro. Yeah, and I think the the next big thing's going to they're already in sports too, so it's like they're like, They're trying to be like Disney. That's why they the the beta was when they had like NFL football, like the Jake Paul fights, no, the NFL football on Netflix. That was the beta to see if people would actually like, oh, just because you're so used to the ESPN, CBS, and shit like that, just because it's a little different as the end now, can will people still watch it? Yeah, people do that. And how they woo motherfuckers and everybody globally was do what tune in through Netflix. They did what? Subscribed. They put Beyoncé on that shit for the halftime show. Yeah, I know. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm saying they subscribe to that drone. That was um, that was that was basketball though when that happened. That was the um That was football too, remember? What was it, Thanksgiving? It was like she was like the Dallas, I forget it was like the it was I'm pretty sure that was football. I think that was during like Thanksgiving or something like that. I don't remember they did that whole halftime show. I think the Cowboys were playing, or somebody was playing. Because she was on that cowboy carter run. You might be right. It was one you're right. I think it was football, you're right. Had to be. Yeah, it was nah. They went all the way back to date. I know. I'm trying to figure out. Did you say Beyonce halftime performance on Netflix? Definitely Cowboy Carter. She definitely was the if it was basketball, then hey, my mind must be shot. 100%. Like I'm trying to tell you. Yeah, that ain't. I'm trying to look. I'm trying to look. Um But yeah, I mean, while I'm looking that up, but yeah, I was just interested to see like what and I think you know how back in the day um you could watch concerts on TV? Yeah. I think that's become that's coming back too. What, seeing concerts on TV? Like live on live on like these streaming platforms, networks, or whatever it may be. Um because I used to do that like on MTV and all that type of stuff. But I like you said when it comes to Netflix trying to be like that Disney or whatever, they're gonna start streaming a bunch of stuff. Nah, 100%. It literally said uh she did yeah, I wasn't wrong. During the Houston, Texans and Baltimore Ravens in 2024, Christmas Day. Christmas Day. I knew it's the reason that's why I thought it was basketball because of Christmas Day. They were like, but there was arguments saying the NFL's taking over everything, now Christmas Day because I used to be basketball, but nobody tunes into that. You're right. So like they're running that beta, bro. So Netflix is not Netflix is the top dog. Disney's just a Disney, but I'm saying like the one that's gonna be competing the most with Disney, you think? Attempting to, yeah. Well, it's gonna be hard to beat in Disney. They're just a legacy act, bro. It's like they're they're the old guard. But something has to give. They're gonna have to they're they're literally gonna have to uh make make a Netflix world. Well, they are doing that already. I'm they're they're in betas right now. I'm just saying. That's cool, but I'm saying like they're gonna have to do something like Walt Disney World, bro. Like that's everybody wants to go to Disney World. True. But what would make that appealing? Like, would it just be the shows that they have or they didn't make cartoons? Like, what do they need to do? It is the cartoon, it's gonna start with animation and programming through the kids. Yeah, it's not no the fucking cocoa melons. They're good, they're they're they're they're finding the creators now as to who's gonna be able to transition these next generation of kids from infants to kids to teenagers to adults. Right, right. This is gonna be the phases of what we're gonna do. Exactly, bro. It and like you said, like, because like you said, Disney has unlocked just because there's a legacy, but like you said, what's gonna shift this younger generation that's coming up to get off of that and and be on this on the Netflix wave. Like you said, they're Netflix kids, it's that Disney. Needs to be another Mickey. What do you think would be the Mickey? What's what's the what's the what's the what's the one that River always be watching? I mean over there, this little cartoon they have like they're like they're trying to, huh? They're like they're like, I don't know what they're doing. Yeah, Sheriff Labrador, but that's what I'm saying. Not I mean it is, I know what you're talking, but it's not that. It's like right now it's it's it's probably like the baby shark. Yeah. That or coconut. But I got it, I got it off that program. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, that was a real program, huh? It is, bro. That's conditioning. Yeah, think about it when it's all it's like same cadence, same rhythm, same frequencies, just different songs and rhymes. Yeah, it's like it gets them to where it's like they're not really focused, they're in the hypnosis. Right. They said, I was reading the report, I want you to know your thoughts on this. It said kids two to five should only have maybe like an hour of screen time a day. And then it said, and then it said kids like ten to like like teenagers should only have like two, and then like when you're a teenager into like college, you should only three max. Like, because it messes up your programming. It definitely does, but yeah, yeah, yeah. They cause the depression and all that. It was like a report that I was reading online, which is pretty accurate. Yeah, I mean, that's I mean, for sure. I mean, everybody needs their vitamin was a D when you pause. Like, you know what I'm talking about? Pause, yeah, I know what you mean. Like when you the sun hits you and shit like that. Is that true? Yeah. So, okay, so like when you don't get a lot of that and you're just inside the fucking house and it's just watching TV and eating fucking snacks, yeah, you're gonna be depressed, bro. There's no exercise throughout your day. That's why I make it a fact. Young boy goes outside and you're gonna go. You gotta go outside and run. Participate in something. Yeah, yeah, it's a fact. But yeah, it'll be interesting to continue to follow like these wars, the streaming wars, cuz there's gonna be there's a shift coming. There's a shift coming. It's the new media, new area and new area. Things are changing. Disney, you'll always probably be a little state. I mean, what do you think there'll ever be a point where Disney, like the Disney world just goes ghost and nobody goes there anymore? Do you think that's a possibility? There has to be some shit, bro, because like you gotta think about it. Disney's really, when it comes to like what's the word when it comes to like the digital programming. They're embedded. They're embedded. They play, they hedge their funds, as they would say. Yeah, they're embedded. Like, there ain't no everybody knows Mickey. Everybody knows Mickey. That's a fact, bro. That's crazy. Every generation. Everybody knows Mickey Goofy, you know what I'm saying? Minnie, yeah. All of them. They know like people will say, I want to go see Mickey Mouse. When you know every kid, do you know Mickey? They'll say yes, bro. That's crazy that's really crazy. Like, everybody, every parent is fighting to go to Disney World just to make their kids proud. Just spend their last dollar to go to Disney. Just to go just so the kids can have that magical experience. That's wild. I guess that's the ultimate goal when you're building a brand. You want to be like Disney World, bro? Yeah. Disney. I mean, we if we go out to North, that's what we said. We want to be everybody asks, oh, what you guys show Bro, Disney. Everybody wants the North Star. That's the North Star. That's the way what you mean? Yeah, that's the North Star. In terms of like a net like a network, any network that most of the time when you're building is like in terms of like branding wise, like to be, when I say North Star in terms of like when you have Mickey Mouse that goes through generations, like you want your brand. Generational, bro. That's what I mean by the North Star. Yeah, like you want that that's like when I say North Star, like that's what everybody's striving to be in terms of like brand, like your brand echoes through. Like our parents knew who Mickey was. Exactly. That's what I mean by that, bro. It's like it's crazy. What's the only other brand maybe that's like that big? Like McDonald's? No. McDonald's was around probably when, like the 50s, 60s? Yeah, but I'm saying, like, I'm saying that it has like that. Disney's been around since like the 40s. Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, I'm saying like it has longevity like that. That's what I mean. Like, everybody knows the golden arches. Yeah, no. You see that M anywhere. That's global. That shit global. It ain't like Disney World. They got Disney World and Tokyo. I mean, they got McDonald's in the world. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They got McDonald's everywhere though. They got McDonald's. Disney's the bigger brand, but like. But there's more, there's more franchise McDonald's everywhere, but there's only certain location, like flagship spots for Disney World. And people, it's that's supply and demand. What do you think? What do you think is more notable?

unknown

Disney.

SPEAKER_06

Golden Artists or Mickey Mouse? Mickey Mouse, bro. Hell yeah. Mickey Mouse is more well known than the McDonald's. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, fuck yeah. Fucking McDonald's paying rent in Disney World. You probably find a McDonald's in that bitch. True, true, true. Straight up. Like, they got real estate and property. Diddy probably own parts of McDonald's. What? Who? I said Disney probably owns parts of McDonald's. Oh, yeah, right, right. Rather you said Diddy. Nah, that's what I said. Diddy. It says Disney's the bigger brand overall, but it says it depends on how you define bigger. Let's see who's what's who's worth more. Shit. Fucking, I'm telling you, Mickey Mouse and Disney. Disney, man. It says revenue business size, Disney has a slight edge. Damn, that's crazy. Food and bads versus you know television programming? Both two necessities. Yeah, because I mean, think about it. Like, McDonald's could feed us bullshit, and motherfuckers are still gonna go. That's crap. They put something in that's fast food. At a high price. Yeah, whoever created with that, like they put a remedy in that motherfucker. I'm about to see how much it's both worth, and then we'll then we'll move on. That's cool. Like, I'm telling you, Disney's worth about a couple billion, I mean a couple hundred billion. Say, nah, I ain't gonna say a couple hundred billion, but you might be right. You might be right, bro. Yeah, 200 billion, but market value 100, 200 billion. Yeah, that's a lot of that's a lot of catalog. It says market value McDonald's is 222 billion. You wasn't a you're 100% right about the McDonald's shit. Like that shit's global, too. But they're more of a real yeah, I was gonna say they're more of a real estate uh company. Yeah. Higher market value right now is McDonald's cultural influence is Disney. Stability is Disney and it's a growth potential. I mean, stability is McDonald's and his growth potential is Disney because they can just keep it's media. It's kind of crazy. I mean, well, yeah, because it that they're their their media is spread out. McDonald's, McDonald's advertising, it it competes too, bro. It does compete. It competes. It does collaborations with everybody. But then you gotta say with films, but who but those films is really probably under what? Under Disney, but McDonald's, McDonald's is in every every lot of movies too. But who's really controlling like the movie share? No, I know what you mean when it comes to the movie share, but when it comes to Especially animation. With food and bed and real estate? But no, I'm saying, but the animation with toys and all that. True. They both get, but it's fine. You think it's a 50-50 deal when they go into the when they go into Fuck No. What you mean? A 50-50 deal. So you think if they're going into the if they're going into the boardroom. Yeah, for Disney's on one side, McDonald's is on all the side. Who's A side? Disney, hell yeah. Every time? Hell yeah. I don't know, bro. Bro, because you gotta think about it. So, for an example, like those happy meals, bro. I think McDonald's is A side. You want to be in our happy meal? You put that joint in there. What you mean? You want to be a our movies and our films, like fucking uh Princess and the Frog, these kids want to buy their toys because of our film. Okay. Our film. But you but at the end of the day, Disney, they want to make money because they know every all them kids is buying happy meals. So you want to advertise? You want to advertise in our happy meals? You need to give us this dollar amount. I mean, yeah, but we can go to fucking Burger King if we wanted to. But they're not. They could. They could, but they don't. Why? I mean because McDonald's brand. Because the M. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's the happy because the smile on the box. The M definitely plays a factory. They know Happy Mills. What's the happy movie Burger King? We don't even know. Our movie's more advertising than the fucking McDonald's. Fuck you talking about. Nigga, we run the fucking, we run the fucking programming. Doesn't matter though. We do. We run ESPN. But it doesn't matter. But the physical, when you're driving down that road, you see that M. Okay. I'm stopped. Hey, we're moving Coca-Cola. See, Disney is ahead of the curve because they were already moving into the digital era. Okay. To where it's like, yeah, people are driving, but now these days people are more so on platforms looking at their advertisements and stuff like that. Yeah, McDonald's is McDonald's. Everybody knows. Everybody knows this is green. You don't even need advertisements at this point. For what? For McDonald's, you don't need advertisement. Same with Disney. I'm not, I mean, if a new movie, you do need advertisement. The old, the old, the old guard. Mickey, you're right. You're right. But, but I don't know who's A side, bro. I don't know who's A. Tinker Bell go over the fucking castle versus the M. Which one's hits more? What you mean? When you see the literally, like the, you know, that, you know, like the nuance of the music play. You feel like, damn, yeah, we're about to watch a Disney like, oh shit. Versus, I don't be like Ronald. Or bada ba. I'm loving it. I don't know, bro. I don't know. I don't know. The bada ba, I'm loving it. That's that's a staple. When you hear that sound effect of the I want a happy meal. Every kid wanted the happy meal. What do they tell you? No, I want a happy meal. Well they do, they go and buy it. Make the kid go quiet. Why? Because why? Because why do they want the happy meal? Fuck no. I don't know. Why do they want the happy meal? Why? Why? You're not wrong about that. They want the toilet in the cool. They want the maybe the four-piece or the they don't want to go to the they don't want to go to the nigga put them a slide time. They wanna go put them a slide? No, nigga. Yeah, back in the day we wanted to go eat them. It's a happy meal box. You might be going in here and there for it's like going down the slide maybe 10% of the time. 10 to 20% of the time. That used to be nine times out of ten when we we going through the drive-through, bro. Nah, now when we're a young boy, that'll be that'll be a little playdate when you was a young boy. You go into McDonald's, sitting there to eat. All right, what's the pocket, art mills, all right, pocket mills, you got 10 minutes to go down the slide. So McDonald's where we have had a slide. So what? McDonald's where we used to live or where we lived. Nah, now we're not where we were now where we're just talking about. That's not the only McD that's not the only McDonald's that we've been to, though. Where we grow up, we were going to that McDonald's majority of the time versus any other place. I'm not disagreeing with that. So my point. Bro. Exactly. So you're not really going into no fucking mega McDonald's to go down a damn slide. Mega McDonald's. You're going through the fast. The McDonald's back in the day were different than the ones now. They redid the McDonald's we got now. Bro, so the McDonald's back in the day had a slide in that. My memories, I got too many concussions. Right, exactly. So my point is to you, you're going to get that toy in the box. I'm going for the fries. You're going, you're a fat ass nigga, but that's neither here nor there. But you're when you were about six, you won the toy in the box, brother. I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm not disagreeing with that. But but Disney wasn't the only one planting toys in that box. Disney. It wasn't Disney. First was the run. You had the little Ronald McDonald, you had the hamburger, you had the little those are the first ones in the box. And then they started doing parties. Look that shit up. Because I don't know. Fuck who was it was it was more what was the first toy in the box? Disney merch. It probably was McDonald's, but I'm just curious. It could have been a fucking Disney merch. Let's see. What was the first toy in the Happy Mail? I mean, I ain't gonna lie, like I'm I don't know why they stopped like selling those items now that I'm thinking about it. They don't do that anymore. The hamburger miles? I'm talking about the toys in the box. They do. I'm saying I don't know why they stopped selling the hamburger. Oh, the hamburger. Um it was like a stencil, yeah, like the McDonald's house, uh mini erasure. Yeah, some bullshit. Okay. It was McDonald's branding. And over time, they probably start probably started putting other things in their. Then they probably put the characters in there and then they probably started doing partnerships with the city. That shit probably wasn't selling. It probably was selling. It's probably why they started doing the deals with with um with uh Disney and stuff. For advertising placements. Huh? Advertising placements. For Disney. Yeah, so Disney, they're McDonald's is A side. McDonald's not A side. If you want your they had the proof of concept, these kids want to come and buy the happy nigga. They had a proof of concept that the fucking food was good and it was. Fuck! The kids wanted the toys, the McDonald's. They didn't want that, the Dominicans toy. They wanted the McDonald's probably, the McDonald's probably. So you're saying they wanted that toy compared to no McDonald's toy? That's not what I'm saying. That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I'm saying is they had the proof of concept that look, these kids are buying, these kids are buying happy meals and they love the toys and happy mills. So they went to they went to Disney. They went to this. And toy that the kids got the happy mills because the merch was a plus, bro. Yes, but they probably saw the revenue on what was these soils like, yo, no, look, this is what they probably did. They probably let me finish my argument. You can debate it after. What I'm saying is they probably went to they probably went to Disney and was like, Disney, look, we got these Happy Meals, they're going off the charts. These kids love the toys, the kids love the food, da da da. You could probably make a killing advertiser if you put Mickey in this joint, if you put Tinkerbell in this joint, Peter Pan in this joint. So, and then Disney, all right, what's it gonna cost us? What's it gonna cost us? Anyways, what's it gonna cost us? Disney, I mean, McDonald's went to Disney and said, this is this is all the people that are buying our fucking food. True. The merch really wasn't, they wasn't really fucking throwing in the merch say, oh, this is our merch sales, da da da. This is our fucking food sales of the couple. No, no, the majority of the part of cost me. This is our our customer retention. Facts. So to help us help you, let's do a collaboration. But McDonald's is the A-side. No, what they're saying is, okay, Disney, since you guys are the bigger conglomerate, we'll let you. It just shows the fucking Disney's the bigger conglomerate. No, it shows that McDonald's is the bigger conglomerate. You said Disney was a bigger fucking entity. No, market value. 180 to 200. Disney, McDonald's is 200 to 220. You said fucking uh Disney was a bigger entity when you first read it. No. Scrolling up. Let's see. You said in short answer, it says what Disney is the bigger. Well yeah, there's a bigger fucking brand. Okay, I'll give it to you. I mean, I think that's why I said it's probably good. It wasn't the board. Bigger brand. Who's the bigger brand? So McDonald's needed that brand. Once the Disney needed that brand itself to get away from the brand. I mean, excuse me. Disney was the bigger brand, correct? At that time? When they first started, you can look it up. What you mean? It just says Disney is the bigger brand. This is for current days, it's saying. Nigga, this is overall. What you mean, current day? I don't know what's the bigger brand, bro. It's Disney, nigga. Because if that's the case, why aren't they valued more? Huh? If that's the case, then why aren't they valuable? They're putting a lot of fucking investments out. What you mean? Far as like creators, far as like buying catalog, far as like pro a bunch of different shit in the digital era space. I feel you. I get what you mean now. I get what you're saying. Like, to whereas, I mean, they're probably valued more because they're more of a real estate company. I get what you mean. I get what you mean. I get your point now. I get your point now. Do you? No, I do. I don't explain it. No, what you just explained to me about like they're the value, the more it comes to market value because they're putting out more money to create shit. I guess that makes sense. Yeah. Um, but nah, like, I'm I'm I am interested in what people think about this. I we gotta cop to clip this up because that's a very who's A-side in that conversation when they when they come to point when they come to collaborations, when they come to doing things, McDonald's or Disney or Disney or McDonald's, who who's the more notable brand? You gotta think about it now too, like when McDonald's are on certain like stations that are under well, these stations are under what? What do you mean certain stations? Like ESPN or let's say ABC or whatever, that they're part of Disney and McDonald's is advertising, it's on whose platforms. You're right. Alright then. Um my last thing I want to talk about, um that I have on the docket. It's some it's a last thing about the I will say though this too. Like if you look at it like this, Disney or McDonald's is running the physical game, and Disney's running the digital true. True, true. Um There's actually two more things. These are gonna be two, um probably get through these pretty quickly. One is, and then we'll go to we're going into sports now. Um UFC, you're a big UFC fan. What do you think about it? What about the UFC 330 coming to Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday, August 15th? Making the city's first uh major UFC numbered event in 15 years. Um Dana White announced it. And how do you think the fans are gonna react? I'm trying to go to that event. Well, the one in Philly? Philly, the one that's in August. Yeah, it's gonna be electric for sure. I mean, I want to see who the fight card is. Yeah, they haven't announced the fight card. They said rumors just say it's supposed to be Islam. But I mean, if it's Islam, it's like, yeah. You want more attaining. Yeah, yeah. I don't want him to be fucking grappling all day. Like, nobody wants to see a fight like that. I want to see something. We're in Philly, baby. You want this is the the uh the Broad Street bullies. The drunk motherfuckers gonna be out there at that junk. Yeah, it's gonna be a legend. It's gonna be at the mobile. Yeah. It's gonna be crazy. It's gonna be crazy. I think it's exciting, like it's another event. I want to see like Justin Gagey come out here and fight. Facts. It'll be it'll it's gonna be another event for the city. The city, the city, obviously 250. It's booked out. It's booked and busy. Trying to tell you, the summer's about to be crazy. It's booked, it's gonna be something happen every week. It's already happening every week, but everything. It's starting now, bro. Woo! Last thing I want to talk about, and I need to get your opinion on this. Um, some local news in the sports world that um everybody's talking about. So Bill Belton, um former Penn State player, um, for now former head coach of Winslow. Um, they won back-to-back state titles in group four. Um went to the won the South Jersey Championship, I believe, three or four times in a row as well. Right. Um, announced that he's going to uh conference rival St. Augustine, which is a prep school in South Jersey. Right. Um and obviously those that don't really know the difference between public and private schools, one gets funding, they can they can recruit a certain way, they can give scholarships, all that type of stuff. And then legally, quote unquote, when you're at a public school, you can't really do that. Um, even though some coaches do, some coaches don't, whatever it may be. So this is this shook up the sports world. Um, and and it brought to my attention and the conversation a lot of people were having is after a coach like Bill Belton um Belton went back to an alma mater um and built a program up, why would he leave from a private school instead of continuing to build the place he came from up? We see that happen time and time again, whether it's uh basketball, whether we see other sports, like you build a public school up. Um this area obviously is predominantly black, I'll throw that in there as well. And then you go to a prep school like St. Augustine, who is on the opposite side of the spectrum, wealth, wealthy, a lot of funding, alumni, um not a predominantly black school at all. Um instead, why why do you see coaches like this switch? And he's taking his whole staff with them, damn near. I mean, it's smart if you ask me. Uh you gotta realize like this. I mean, you just said it. I mean, private school is uh is a place to where you can you can uh have the flexibility to do a little bit more as far as like recruiting and you know just getting your players where they need to be. Um and also too, for like, I mean, let's say shit, he's bringing some of these Will Winslow Winslow kids to the prep. It's no different what Coach Prime's doing when he from went to from uh JSU to Colorado. Yeah. I mean, so I mean, if he can get the job done at St. Augustine and That's how you say St. Augustine now, Augustine. Uh, yeah, whatever you want to say. Yeah, I don't know. Um, that's how you that's how you do it. I mean, you're if anything, you're getting these players that are from Winslow, that are from Sucklerville, that are from these areas that not saying poverty, but you know, could be considered low-income areas, yeah. Um, a light to showcase their talents. But now, I mean, but then you look at a pla a coach like Coach Hinton. Yeah. Over at the high, I mean, they're winning championships, but it's all about spotlight. It is. But they're going to Texas, though, too. Yeah, they're going, they're going to know Odessa. They're gonna go play. But the Wednesday played IMG. So, I mean, does it really matter about the school? So that's what I was gonna ask about. Does this allow allow them to really create a powerhouse to really want to? Because now they have the funding. They can, they can, they can be like all the team the teams up north, like the Bergen Catholics. The Bergen Catholics, the uh what's the other schools that are up there, like uh Pyramus. Paramis Catholic, all them schools up there that um have the funding to do recruit and do things. So like now he doesn't have to worry about the recruiting rules. He can he can go and post kids and have the funding behind him. Because I'm sure now that he's the head coach, there's probably mad donations that went into just the football program alone to allow them to build to build the powerhouse that they want to build. You feel me? I've seen a lot of, like I said, there's a lot of discourse. I mean, do you think this is gonna they're gonna become the major pipeline in South Jersey? Um, major pipe. I mean, to where he's positioned, they could be, they can be. Uh it's just now just you gotta win these non-public games. Yeah. To where it's like you're playing these private school teams, to where it's like you're gonna be playing the Bergen Catholics. So if you can, if you can knock the heavy, heavy monsters off early when you first step in, year two, maybe year, fuck year one. I mean probably. If you can bring all your players over, which why not? And they can, if the school's saying we're gonna give make these players that just want to stay chip scholarship players, come over, let's do it. Now you should have a bigger pool to like fund them. You know what I mean? It's just you just gotta keep the same system that you have that was at Winslow to over there, but you have to expand on that shit because it's like the spotlight's on you. And I think about NIL too, they're probably gonna, them kids are probably gonna start getting. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. But also you gotta think about it as like they're probably gonna have a national schedule, I think. Nah, if I'm him, I'm just I'm taking the season, you know. I'm I'm trying to make a run in Jersey as far as uh the private side. I already won the non-prob side. Yeah, because no one, I think in any, and that, and I think well they I think they maybe group A in private that you play with. Yeah, so I don't think anyone from Jersey, anytime recent, has won the state championship. That's what I'm saying. Like, just he has to just take over. Take over all of Jersey. I've done it in public, I've done it non-public. Now give me the national record to where it's like I want a national championship schedule, to where if I'm in the tournament and I can win that bitch, send me up to college. Yeah, and he uh and he's young, man. This whole staff he's young. They're all like 30s, early 30s, so they're gonna be around for a long time. Even younger. I know the offensive OC ever. He's only like I'm saying like younger. I'm saying like 26, 27. I'm saying, like, in terms of like the oldest person on the staff, probably is like Yeah, I'm just saying, like, it's a young staff, bro. They're gonna be around for a while, bro. They're gonna be around for a while. Um That's what I'm saying. You got an OC at not even his 30s, yeah. I think I think then Miles Nash is the DC, he's he's the same age as me. So yeah, that's facts. So you got you got you got youth, you got you got coaches that are coaches players. They're gonna learn and play. Yeah. So so I mean, but that's all I got for today, man. You got anything else for me? Then we up. That's all I got for episode 280 of the face of the future podcast. We're on the way to 300. You know what I'm saying? Appreciate you tuning in.
